Petrol forklifts – suitable for indoor and outdoor use

Forklifts, or counterbalance lift trucks, are vehicles designed to enable you to lift and move heavy goods as needed. Because of the large scope of work these vehicles are used for, there are many types with specific attributes that make them suitable for certain jobs. One particular differentiation is the way they are powered. Diesel forklifts are powerful, perfect for outdoor work while battery powered lift trucks are best suited for indoor use in places like warehouses. Petrol forklifts on the other hand are, within limits, suitable for both, making them ideal for operations that require them to move goods from the one to the other.

When it comes to indoor work, there is one very important thing you should consider that has nothing to do with the goods you are moving and that is the matter of emissions and ventilation. Diesel engines produce emissions that are to high to be safe for indoor use. Petrol forklifts produce less and are therefore suitable for indoor use, provided that the area in question is well ventilated. If not, or if the forklifts are going to be in constant use, it might be wise to rather consider a battery powered lift truck.

Another very important factor that needs to be considered is the levels of service and support available in your area. Forklifts are more often than not in constant use and as with any engine, there will eventually be a time when it needs some or other repair work. You cannot afford for your forklift down indefinitely, so there should preferably be a dealer or repair shop in your area that can service your particular truck and that stock a sufficient amount of parts for your particular forklift.
