Fork Lifts

The type of work will determine the type of fork lifts you should be considering

Fork lifts have become an integral part of many operations. It is a vital part of most procedures in manufacturing and storage plants. It gets its name from the two prongs protruding from the front of the truck. These are designed to match the openings of pallets, which are used to stack the goods on that needs to be moved. Depending on the size of the fork lifts used as well as the pallets, a large amount of goods can be moved easily in relatively little time. There are a number of different designs available. This, together with different features and attachments, make these the perfect vehicles for the transferring of goods in almost any situation.

One of the main things that distinguish fork lifts from each other and make them more appropriate for specific uses is the fuel type. Diesel trucks have a lot of power, but they also produce a substantial amount of harmful exhaust emissions. This makes them unsuitable for indoor use, but perfectly fine for use outdoors. Petrol trucks produce significantly less fumes, and can therefore be used indoors. Because there is still some gas emission, it is, however, only advised to use these indoors where there is sufficient ventilation. Electrical or battery operated trucks produce no emissions whatsoever and is thus the perfect workhorse for indoors, such as in warehouses.

It is clear that the specific use you have in mind for your truck will determine the choice of fuel. This is also true for many other features, such as the choice between cushion and pneumatic tyres. Pneumatic tyres are much better for outdoor use, while cushion tyres do well indoors. You also have to consider the lift capacity and lift height, which will be dependent on what you want to move and where you want to move it to. If operating indoors, you also have to consider the width of your aisles and the operating space required by the lift truck you are considering.
