Forklift Sales

Forklift Sales Providers Offering Transport Solutions

When last did you drive along the road and get stuck behind a forklift? This is because forklifts are not licensed to drive on the roads in South Africa and that all forklift sales need to be transported to and from their destination points.

Make sure that the price of this transportation is included in the purchase price of the forklifts that you buy. If you don’t do this you may be surprised when you receive a transportation bill that you have not budgeted for and was not included in the forklift sales cost. Alternatively, you may be left in a position where you will need to make your own arrangement for the forklift to be transported meaning that you could lose precious time when the forklift should be in operation.

Forklift transport requires specialised transport and not just any old truck will do to move the equipment. Ideally the truck should have a stable roll out or lowered loading ramp that the forklift can easily drive up and down. It is not a good idea to use cranes or other types of lifting equipment to raise or lower the forklift onto and off a truck as this could damage the forklift negating your warranty that you received with your forklift sales.

The forklift will also need to be secured safely onto the flat bed surface of the truck. Trucks that have wheel clamps and other safety equipment are the ideal choice. Ropes and other tying materials will not be effective in securing the forklift on the truck and could cause movement damaging the forklift while being transported. A flatbed truck is fine for the transport of forklifts and an enclosed truck or truck with side panels will not be necessary.

There are other times that your forklift will also need to be transported and the same safe and reliable methods of transport should be used for these events. While some forklift maintenance and repair providers will provide their services on your premises, you will need to transport the forklift in cases where this is not an option. Find out whether you service provider can transport the forklift or whether you will need to make alternative arrangements with your forklift sales dealer.

Accidents happen so make sure that your forklift is insured in the event that damage is caused due to a collision while in transit. Should this happen before you have taken delivery of the forklift, the sales dealership will be responsible for providing you with an undamaged forklift at no extra cost to you. However, if the forklift is being transported for services or repairs, the transport or service provider will not take any responsibility for damage to the equipment during transit for any reason whatsoever.

There may also be times when you need the forklift to be transported between different facilities or premises where the equipment is most needed at any given point in time. In this event you need to ensure that you are getting the most affordable rates while the safety of the forklift is paramount. Compare rates from different transport providers and find out which ones will match or even better quotes from their competitors.

Alternatively, contact your original forklift sales provider and find out whether they offer a transport service as and when you may need one. You will then be guaranteed that the right type of truck will be used to transport the forklift at all times. You also probably more likely to receive a competitive from your local forklift dealership than you are from companies who only provide transport solutions to meet a variety of requirements.
